Chapter 14 - Ethan: Consequences
The first thing I noticed was the pounding in my head that would not let up. I groaned, wanting to bring my hand to my head, but it was lodged under something.
The second thing I noticed was that I was surprisingly warmer than I had been before. Then I smelled itâvanilla. It was her scent.
My eyes snapped open and, sure enough, with her back pressed against my front⦠there, she was. Her brown hair was unruly and everywhere. My arm was draped over her, and her hand was clutched in mine.
I looked down and noticed that we were as naked as the day we were born. All of last night's events played in my head like a bad movie.
The shots, the tension, and the sex. The mind-blowing sex had my chest hammering and my body dripping with sweat.
I had had sex with Lily not once, not twice but five times last night. We had explored every inch of our bodies. There was no corner of her body that I did not know, and there was no inch of skin that I had not kissed.
I had loved every minute of my time with Lily, but now reality was sinking in, and the consequences I had known about but purposefully chosen to overlook were here to haunt me.
I looked down at her again. A strange urge to protect overwhelmed me, and I found myself feeling possessive.
This was not good.
Lily was not mine to claim. She was off-limits, not only because of Grayson, but also because I was not capable of loving her the way she deserved.
Grayson had warned me years ago about guys getting near his sister. I had promised him that I would never go there with her, but I had done more than just go there with his sister.
This was what happened when I let loose. This was what happened when I threw caution to the wind. Now I was in a mess. There was only one way of getting through this and that was to pretend it never happened.
That had been the original plan anyway. This was a one-night-only kind of thing. After the sun came up, this was to be forgotten and never remembered again. I only hoped Lily remembered that by the time she woke up.
Slowly, I detached myself from Lily, careful not to wake her. Judging from the lack of sunlight streaming into the room, it was still dark out.
I pulled my arm from under her and moved off the bed. I stilled when she stirred and waited. She moved a little bit. I let out a low breath and moved around the room gathering my clothes. I put on my boxers and didnât bother with a shirt or pants.
I quietly made my way out of her room and headed straight for my room. I threw my clothes onto the bed and went for my phone.
The first thing I saw on my notifications was a message sent from Grayson. My stomach dropped to my feet.
